Dear Parents and Coaches

To help clear up some confusion, below is our berth policy for teams that win berths in tournaments

By winning a berth, (either winning a USSSA tournament or finishing high enough and the teams above you are already qualified) your team is frozen in USSSA. This means that your child cannot play in a USSSA tournament with any other team. The only exception is that he could play in a higher age group with another team. If your regular team is not playing and another team asks your son to play, IF IT IS A USSSA TOURNAMENT, HE CANNOT PLAY. A teams roster is frozen the first time they win a berth in USSSA. Teams can not win multiple berths and decide which roster to freeze. For 2011 season, no rosters will become frozen until after April 1, 2011. On April 1 the top 25% of teams in each tournament that do not already have frozen rosters, will be frozen.

A manager can drop as many players as he wishes from his frozen roster.  He can also add up to 3 players.  He can do this on his online roster. Only the manager may release a player from a roster. Go to the rules link on the home page of the www.baseballfirst.com website for all of our frozen roster guidelines.

These rules are not intended to keep your son from playing. The intent is to insure that all teams participating have a fair chance to win a berth in their age group.

Remember, these rules apply whether or not your team plans to go to the USSSA World Series and are in effect until after the World Series when the new age groups take effect. If you have any questions, please call the State office at (714) 848-1850

If you are missing from this list please email craig@baseballfirst.com
