USSSA Baseball 10-and-Under World Series Congratulations on an outstanding season and welcome to the 2001 USSSA 10-and-Under World Series for the Major Division. The tournament will be played at the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex in Henderson, Nevada. Henderson is located 35 minutes from the world famous Las Vegas strip. Other nearby fields will be used as needed. The dates for the tournament are July 15-22, 2001, with games tentatively scheduled to begin on July 16. Check the itinerary in this packet for the days and times of other tournament-related events. The "Pool Play" format will be used in the World Series. Teams will be placed in pools where they will play a round robin within their pool. A double elimination format will be used in the Championship bracket following pool play. A single elimination consolation bracket will be held for the teams that do not qualify for the championship bracket. The brackets will be posted on USSSA Southern California's website at www.baseballfirst.com. Your team's application and cashier's check or money order in the amount of $350 MUST BE RECEIVED BY YOUR STATE DIRECTOR BY FRIDAY, JULY 6 to guarantee your spot in the tournament. Your entry fee should be made out to USSSA Baseball. All of the above should be sent to your USSSA Baseball State Director. A complete listing of all USSSA Baseball State Directors can be found at www.usssabaseball.org. The roster that we receive must be signed by your State Director. This roster must be the one that was submitted to your State Director when your team qualified for this event. No additions will be allowed at the tournament. Failure to comply with this rule will result in your team's suspension from play in the tournament. To be included in the Official Tournament Program a 5 X 7 photo of your team must be received by July 1st. FOR STATE DIRECTORS ONLY: Please send the following to Tournament Headquarters. USSSA Southern California, 16027 Brookhurst St., Suite G-120, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 by Monday, July 9, 2001. 1. A letter of transmittal with the names of
all teams participating in the tournament. All players participating in the 10-and-Under USSSA Baseball World Series must be checked in prior to the start of the event. Check-in will be on Sunday, July 15 at the field. Check-in is mandatory. Managers must have copies of their players' original birth certificates with them at check-in, and in their possession at the field at all times during the tournament. Failure to have a copy of the birth certificate available upon demand or falsifying a birth certificate will result in the offending team losing the game, being ejected from the tournament, being placed last in the standings, and forfeiting all awards that would have been awarded at the tournament. NOTES: 1. Any player that reaches the age of 11 prior
to August 1, 2001 shall not be eligible to play in the 10-and-Under World
Series. Tournament brackets will not be mailed in advance. Brackets and other tournament information will be available on the USSSA Southern California website www.baseballfirst.com after 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 11. Please check the itinerary for the time and location of all tournament-related events. There will be a free day of golf for all managers on Wednesday, July 15. There will be a manager's meeting at approximately 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 15 following the golf event. The location and exact time will be announced. The official game brackets will be available at that time. Opening ceremonies will begin at approximately 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 15. All teams must participate and should be in full uniform. Details will be available to the teams once they are officially entered in the tournament. There will be a social get-together for teams and their families at the water park at Arroyo Grande Park on Wednesday afternoon. There will be swimming, water slides, games, food for kids, etc. Home run contests, throwing contests, and running contests will be held for the kids. AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED 1. Teams trophies to the first 4 teams. Included in this packet is information on area hotels/motels in every price range. All are close to the fields. We highly recommend that you stay in Henderson hotels due to the amount of travel back and forth to the fields. While the Las Vegas strip is close, the traffic can be nasty and will cause problems going back and forth to Strip hotels. The championship bracket and consolation bracket will begin on Wednesday or Thursday. The tournament is scheduled to finish mid-day Sunday July 22. Remember that all schedules are tentative. Admission during the tournament will be $20 for a tournament pass for adults and $12 for a tournament pass for children 6-12. Children under 6 are fee. The charge includes everyone except players and team coaches. A maximum of three manager/coaches passes will be issued to each team. These will be available at the manager's meeting. Daily passes will also be available for $5 per day for adults and $3 per day for children. It is recommended that advance passes be ordered. There is a World Series Tournament Pass Order Form in this packet. There is a Team Information form enclosed for the 2001 World Series Program. It must be completed and returned with a 5x7 black-and-white team picture. It is very important to get this information to tournament headquarters or your team will be left out of the official program. Tournament t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other souvenirs will be available for purchase. T-shirts and sweatshirts may be ordered in advance by completed the enclosed order form. Make checks payable to: USSSA Baseball. Mail the completed form and check to Tournament Headquarters. Action photos and team photos of this special even will be available at the tournament.
